Content you share Posts or activity you choose to share in the App's social features To display your content to other users where you choose to share it

2.2 Information collected automatically

Our service providers (for example Google Firebase) may automatically process limited technical data such as device identifiers, app version, IP address, and crash and diagnostic logs to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the App. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.

3. Camera and device permissions

PermissionHow it is used
Camera To scan product barcodes and to capture meal photos for nutrition estimation. Camera access is only used while you are actively using these features.
Photos / media (optional) If you choose to upload an existing photo of a meal instead of taking a new one.
Internet / network To sign you in, sync your data, and look up nutrition information.

Barcode scanning is processed on your device. We do not continuously record or store video; only the scanned barcode value or a meal photo you submit is used.

4. How your information is used and shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the App:

ProviderPurposeData shared
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions) — Google LLC Account sign-in, secure storage and sync of your data, and processing meal-photo nutrition analysis Account identifiers, profile and fitness data, and meal photos submitted for analysis
Open Food Facts Looking up product nutrition information from a scanned barcode The product barcode number only — no personal or account data

When you submit a meal photo, it is sent over a secure connection to our cloud service (hosted on Google Cloud / Firebase) to estimate its nutritional content. Meal photos are used to return that estimate and are not used for advertising.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the App.

5. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK users)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of: performance of our contract with you (to provide the App), your consent (for example, camera access and optional features), and our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the App.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and fitness data for as long as your account is active. Meal photos submitted for analysis are processed to generate a result and are not retained as part of your long-term profile. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted as described in Section 7.

7. Your rights and choices

You can:

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, port, or erase your data, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at ambokbusiness@gmail.com.

8. Data security

We use industry-standard measures provided by Google Firebase, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

9. International data transfers

Your information may be processed and stored on servers operated by our service providers (such as Google) in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
